TOR WALKING RUGBY
A low-impact, fun, and sociable non-contact version of rugby played strictly at a walking pace. Ideal for staying active, recovering from injury, and enjoying great banter in a welcoming club atmosphere.
HOW WALKING RUGBY WORKS
Walking rugby takes the core tactical skills of rugby — handling, spatial awareness, and team interplay — and removes running and physical impact.
- Strictly walking: One foot must remain in contact with the turf at all times.
- Two-handed touch: A gentle touch with two hands below the chest constitutes a tackle.
- Passing backwards: Classic rugby ball handling principles.
- No contact zones: Zero scrums, rucks, mauls, or contested lineouts.
HEALTH & WELLNESS PERKS
Designed specifically for adults looking to remain active without the risks of high-impact sports.
- Joint friendly: Minimal strain on knees, hips, and back.
- Aerobic conditioning: Continuous steady movement increases cardiovascular stamina.
- Core stability & balance: Improves agility, coordination, and posture.
- Mental health: Great social interaction, laughter, and stress relief.
OPEN TO EVERYONE
You do not need to have ever played rugby before to take part and enjoy Walking Rugby.
- Ages 40+ & seniors: Highly popular with mature adults and veterans.
- Injury rehabilitation: Perfect transition back into physical movement.
- Men and women: Fully inclusive mixed-gender sessions.
- Post-match social: Tea, coffee, and catch-up in the clubhouse afterwards.
